Job Description:
- Assist with the engineering development and execution of new product ideas into technically innovative manufacturable products. Products must conform/exceed all industry, government and Fisher-Price regulations, standards and practices. Work with cross functional Brand team and Hong Kong team to insure successful completion of projects within agreed constraints and design parameters.
- Provide engineering support and guidance to design and marketing (i.e. what can be done, how it can be done, what materials can be used etc). Jointly develop performance specifications. Also responsible to provide support to other dept. engineers.
- Track project schedule to ensure company product availability goals are met. Update and maintain status reports and report project schedule status to management.
- Participate in formal and informal team meetings which review all aspects of engineering design execution. Maintain good communications with other depts. to assure successful completion of projects.
- Keep up to date on current manufacturing and molding capabilities and limitations of subcontract manufacturers. Be aware of and recommend new materials, processes and design techniques that may be used in designing unique and competitive product.
- Be familiar with and work within department and company procedures and practices to ensure smooth progression and proper information exchange.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- BSME Degree
- 2-3 years product engineering experience or related
SKILLS:
- Experience in product manufacturing required, experience with low cost, high volume consumer product manufacturing highly preferred.
- Excellent plastic part and mechanism design knowledge and execution.
- Working knowledge of the production environment including mold building, molding, decorating, assembly and production line requirements.
- Product layout experience.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards a plus.
- Excellent problem solving skills; ability to assess challenges and recommend creative, viable solutions.
- Strong Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, CAD); Solidworks a plus.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships and work effectively with individuals at all levels (within and outside the organization).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
- Proactive, self starter that displays initiative to attain results.
