Develop and Implement new products and processes, and resolve product performance issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Masters level degree in Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of (4) Four years experience in a multi-plant manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of chemical processing, product quality and waste reduction and experience in understanding product integrity required.
- Ability to influence floor and staff associates in all activities desired.
- Synthetic rubber specifications, synthetic rubber construction, manufacturing equipment, manufacturing processes.
- Preferred: statistics, statistical procedures and basic product design.
- Perform emission calculations and maintain records in order to demonstrate compliance with site Operating Permits. Estimate emissions and document Emission Events. Prepare and submit various reports required under the CAA, CWA, RCRA, et.al., including the annual Emissions Inventory, SARA 312/313, Title V Deviation reports, and others.
- Explain the terms and conditions of environmental permits, and requirements of environmental rules and regulations to operations personnel so everyone understands the requirements. Perform periodic inspections/audits to evaluate compliance with those requirements.
- Review daily, weekly, or monthly emission reports for key environmental metrics (CEMs, Indicator Chemical, Green House Gas, calculation spreadsheets) and manage the LDAR program.
- Keep up to date with regulatory changes. Establish and maintain systems to ensure they are incorporated into plant operations with SOPs and/or Work Instructions, recommendations and/or equipment changes. Support the plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Interact with Federal State and Local regulatory agencies to resolve issues concerning Emission Events, reports, and agency investigations.
- Skills in emissions calculations and use of computer software a must, especially Excel, Access and Word. Environmental experience in a synthetic rubber manufacturing facility preferred. Experience with USEPA stack testing methods. Experience with performing air emission calculations using AP-42 emission factors . Experience with annual emission inventory reporting in Texas. Familiarity with EPA's Title V Operating Permit program and semiannual reporting. Experience in visible emissions evaluations using Method 9. Experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
- 5 years environmental work experience in the following media: air, waste, and wastewater in the chemical or related industries or areas. Familiarity with CAA, CWA, RCRA, and CERCLA regulations, but with an emphasis on Air Quality in Texas preferred and the skills needed to read, interpret, identify applicability to processes or equipment, and apply the requirements to a facility in procedures, work instructions or recommendations for modifications or new projects. Technical degree is required to enable complex process analysis, i.e., material balances, mass transport, etc. Organizational skills, the ability to prioritize projects, to recognize and resolve technical or procedural conflicts, to communicate well with internal/external contacts.
