Engineer I - V (Facilities and Material Handling Project Management)
Job Summary:
The Facilities Material Handling Project Management Engineer plans, directs and controls the engineering, construction and start-up of FedEx Ground's sortation facilities and complex material handling systems. This includes substantial site, building, and automated system development for existing and new sites.
Essential Functions:
- Define and manage simultaneous project scopes, CPM schedules, budgets and cash flow.
- Bidding, proposal review, contracting, implementation and oversight of all direct contractors and any associated contractors for successful project completion.
- Communicate overall project status to field and upper management.
- 20% travel to field locations to efficiently inspect and resolve issues on construction sites.
- Support facility start-up, field training, and project close-out activities
Minimum Education:
Bachelors degree in engineering or related technical or quantitative degree (e.g. mathematics) or applicable technical experience.

Required Skills, Abilities and/or Licensure:
- Demonstrated ability to lead work teams
- Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting technical documents and drawings
- Project mgmt skills/experience
- Related experience must be project management experience in the Construction or Material Handling Industries
Preferred Qualifications:
This position will provide project management of primarily (90%), medium to large facilities (including site work) and secondarily (10%), smaller facility construction scope.
*BS / MS Mechanical, Civil or Architectural Engineering OR other technical degree will be considered with related construction project experience.
*Training or experience with CPM scheduling and reading and interpreting of construction drawings a plus
*Working knowledge of MS office.
*Familiarity with design concepts related to construction and/or machine design.
*Above average verbal and written communication skills.
*Strong organizational and planning skills.
*Ability to manage multiple projects, objectives, deadlines.
*Preference for being a team member with the initiative to take a leadership role as needed.
