Engineer I - V (Facilities and Material Handling)
Job Summary:
This technical position will support either (1) Facilities Design, (2) Material Handling (M/H) Equipment Design or (3) Material Handling (M/H) Equipment Maintenance. (1) The Facilities Design Engineer will be responsible for the economical, functional, and innovative design of sites, buildings and offices, which will accommodate manual and automated sortation systems, to meet FXG facility requirements. (2) The Material Handling Equipment Design Engineer will be responsible for the economical, functional, and innovative design of material handling equipment, conveyor systems, and sortation systems for manual and automated sortation projects. (3) The Material Handling Equipment Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the on-going preventative maintenance effort for the material handling and sortation equipment, make recommendations for material handling system improvements and provide technical expertise for the resolution of electrical, mechanical and control system failures.
Essential Functions:
- Facilities Design Engineers work with project teams and assist Design Technical staff with facility design information for preparation of facility preliminary and bid set drawing documents and specifications. They also ensure facility designs comply with applicable building codes and FXG design standards and requirements, and evaluate new building products and components.
- M/H Equipment Design Engineers generate bid documents for RFQ's, write technical specifications, descriptions of operation, and scopes of work, generate cost estimates for EP's and create equipment lists and assemble final conveyor layout drawings in concert with CAD department. They also work with conveyor vendors and the FXG field network to establish new designs and methods, update existing FXG standards, and modify equipment specifications based on feedback from the field and Maintenance Engineering.
- M/H Equipment Maintenance Engineers provide 24 hour technical support to satellite operations management for resolution of SWAK and material handling system operation problems which includes rotating shifts and after-hours pager support. They also provide technical expertise to maintenance vendors and hub maintenance staff for resolution of problems and breakdowns.
Minimum Education:
Bachelors degree in engineering or related technical or quantitative degree (e.g. mathematics) or applicable technical experience.

Required Skills, Abilities and/or Licensure:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and engineering drawings
- Ability to engineer material handling or facilities solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
This position provides material handling system layouts to meet our field network package capacity needs. The position is responsible for the economical, functional and innovative design of manual and automated sortation systems from conceptual design through proposal level detail. The position also entails bid package preparation, approval drawing review, construction inspection and start up support.
*BS Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
1. High degree of proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word)
2. Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills,
3. Proficiency with AutoCad software
