POSITION PURPOSE:
Initiate, design, develop, optimize and problem solve manufacturing and converting processes.

KEY CUSTOMERS:
Mill Leadership, Engineering, Research, Operations, Maintenance, Consumers

CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS:

  • Identify and resolve process and equipment problems.

    SCOPE:
    Incumbent will report to the DRC Product System Leader. Incumbent will receive work direction in the form of specific objectives from Asset Team Leader and Product System Leader. Assignments may vary from individual contribution to providing team leadership. The individual will be part of a multifunctional team assigned specific objects and projects. Responsibilities will include safety, quality, production, cost control and self and team member development.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    This position typically requires a bachelors or advanced engineering or relevant scientific discipline degree or equivalent experience, continuing self-development and experience in a variety of assignments. The incumbent must demonstrated personal sensitivity and competency in design and/or use of engineering/scientific analysis systems/tools.

    DIMENSIONS:
    Vary widely with assignment and typically include:

  • Project responsibility of $.2 MM to $1 MM
  • Project team of 2 to 5 people
  • Single or Multiple projects

    1. Follows the Safety Roles and Responsibilities Matrix for Loss Prevention and Control by holding themselves and all team members accountable to its tenets.
    2. Design and Development: Initiates, designs, develops and optimizes manufacturing and supporting processes to achieve unit objectives.
    3. Technical Knowledge: Develops knowledge and skills to be recognized as an implementor of engineering principles and/or scientific analysis in meeting unit objectives.
    4. Security and Documentation: Maintains security and documentation to ensure the retrieval of data and protection of proprietary information.
    5. Problem Solving: Seeks, recognizes, defines and solves problems/opportunities to achieve unit objectives.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES - ENGINEER 2:

    6. Internal Control: Leads assigned projects/tasks to meet unit objectives within applicable Corporate policies. Places emphasis on CFI and Internal Control.
    7. Communicates to inform, engage and inspire. Emphasizes communications as a tool to build collaboration and ensure organizational alignment.
    8. Human Resources Development: Assists in the development of others in the area of his/her expertise, while demonstrating an understanding of those with a diverse background or experience.
    9. QMP: Provides direction and participative leadership in the practical application of the Quality Management Process in all projects, assignments and responsibilities.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering or relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience, continuing self development, and engineering experience.
