Job Description AECOM is looking for an experienced Communications Engineer to research and design new/replacement communications systems. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required. Minimum 10 years experience in the requested or a related field. Electrical Professional Engineering license (or the ability to obtain one in the near future) is desired. Certifications related to CCTV or other Security Systems is desired. Experience with AutoCAD preferred. Successful candidate shall interface with the customer to obtain CCTV requirements and generate design specifications to satisfy those requirements. Customer's facilities include office buildings, maintenance facilities, public transit facilities and other ancillary facilities. Upon award of contracts, the position provides technical support to the installation contractor. Successful candidate shall witness tests and review reports as the customer's representative to verify operation of the new systems per the design specification. Position also requires providing other engineering support for communications projects as they may arise. Successful candidate shall have experience with and knowledge of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, cameras, storage, equipment, functionality, and capabilities; experience in designing and specifying the installation of networked CCTV systems, including CCTV video IP-networking protocols, coding protocols, storage solutions, and Video Management Systems; experience with and knowledge of installation of CCTV systems on mobile vehicles; experience with and knowledge of video analytic technology and applications. Position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Working expertise in the following areas is essential: Local Area Networks/Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN), Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Ethernet (IEEE 802.3), Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11 and 802.16), Fiber and Copper Communication Cable Installation. Knowledge of other communications systems such as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), telephone, and data networks is essential. Experience with access control and perimeter security systems is a plus.
