Engineer III, Test
Purpose of Position:
The Test Engineer III interacts with other engineering groups to document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for new and sustaining Optical Particle Counter products. Provides assistance to other testers performing tests, documenting issues, and working with design engineers on problem resolution. Reviews test results and provides regular project progress reports. Collaborates with engineering management to define internal quality standards and maintenance of reliability programs.
Essential Functions:
- Design, develop, and execute product validation test strategies.
- Create test plans based on product documentation and functional specifications.
- Scope and provide time estimates as well as assigning work to other team members.
- Review and compile test results for phase gate project reviews.
- Develop scripts to automate test procedures for hardware, software, and firmware.
- Interface with project teams on customer requirements and product specifications.
- Take a leadership role in quality improvement initiatives as required.
Education, Background, and Skills Required:
- Bachelor degree in engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of hardware and software testing experience.
- Demonstrated ability to a lead test team on new product development projects.
- Familiar with software and hardware test methodology and defect tracking systems.
- Test scripting experience on the Microsoft Windows platform.
- Proficient in the use of standard test and measurement equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP networked, USB, and RS-232 based systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Project, Word, and Excel.
- Strong technical writing and communications skills including test process development.
- Preferred prior systems experience:
- Microsoft Windows OS - XP, Vista, 7, Server 2003, Server2008.
- Network technologies - Domain controllers, Active Directory, virtual machines.
- Embedded systems OS - Microsoft Windows CE.
