Job Description General Duties: Traffic Engineer's responsibilities include traffic capacity analysis, feasibility studies, signal design, signal timing, signal systems, ITS, tolling, system integration testing, traffic operations, safety analysis, pavement management, traffic impact analyses, traffic calming, railroad corridor safety studies, and other related traffic engineering work Specific Requirements: 8-10 years of professional work experience; Qualified candidates with 4-5 years experience will also be considered BS in Civil Engineering Registration as a Professional Engineer in NC or an ability to obtain the registration through comity within a month of employment MS Degree with transportation engineering emphasis and a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer Certification will be considered as an advantage Must be familiar with Microstation and AutoCAD and the traffic engineering software like Synchro, HCS, and SIDRA Experience with traffic modeling software (Example: VISSIM and VISSUM) and transportation planning/travel demand forecasting software (Example: TransCAD) is highly desirable Experience in preparing proposals and marketing/business development, project management is also desired
