Position Purpose:

Contribute to the profitability of Peabody Energy by preparing detailed engineering mine plans, and providing engineering support for Peabody's mines and related facilities globally. This department is a valuable resource for all Peabody operations. You will be asked to: assist in performing project evaluations; gather data in order to provide analysis for our commercial divisions; and be part of the team that is being challenged with developing enterprise-wide standards.

Principal Accountabilities:
* Assist in the review and development of mine plans and refinement of mining methods for active operations.
* Assist in the evaluation of reserves and preparation of detailed mine plans for potential development areas, acquisitions, expansions, etc. - including calculation of tonnage, coal quality, preliminary facility design, earthwork quantities, financial analysis, etc.
* Assist in the preparation of maps, spreadsheets, presentation materials and the conversion of engineering data from Autocad format into Peabody's GIS database format.
* Participate in the development of technical standards for the engineering services area and monitor compliance to the standards by mines and regional offices.
* Provide engineering services to various corporate groups such as business development, generation development, safety, maintenance, sales and marketing, purchasing, executive management, etc.

Job Requirements:
* BS degree in Engineering - required
* Candidate who has passed FE exam - preferred
* Minimum of 2 years engineering experience - required
* Experience at an operating mine - strongly preferred
* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management - required
* Knowledge of Autocad, modeling software (Survcadd, Vulcan, etc.), mine scheduling software, Microsoft office products and other engineering related software - needed
