RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
Under general direction manages and coordinates the change control activities at the engineer design and manufacturing levels, minimizing the impact of and collecting data regarding all change activities for Chiller Solutions. In addition, this function will coordinate, document, and implement continuous improvement of the change process. The overall goal is to reduce costs associated with Engineering Changes (EC's), drive fact based decisions to minimize impact on products, customers and reduce EC cycle time. Interfaces and communicates with all departments within Design Engineering and plants (globally) to coordinate all activities relating to engineering changes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Defines the roles and responsibilities of all key functions related to the Engineering Change (EC) process and interfaces as needed to gather information to aid process development and maintains EC priorities.
2. Ensures timely implementation of new process and forms, as well as audit for compliance. Update forms and process documentation as needed.
3. Manages the workflow of each EC, tracks approvals, conducts follow up activities to complete process and establishes local effectivity dates.
4. Facilitates the engineering change meetings for each major product line. This will be accomplished by conducting regularly scheduled meetings, routing and distributing pertinent information, and monitoring CCB action items.
5. Reports on EC activity as requested to Chiller Solutions management including usage frequency and efficiency.
6. Assesses and understands engineering specifications and assists in determining the goals, project parameters, and continuous improvement of the EC process.
7. Establishes and maintains EC Databases and reports: EC Impact report, Critical Data report, ECM Menu Module and EC Tracking Data Base, and others as needed.
8. Establishes, maintains and publishes EC performance metric charts. Including but not limited to: EC Backlog, Closed EC's, Cycle Time for Changes, EC Vol by Category.
9. Develops priority for items to be processed in print room services and specification writer.
10. Adds new EC folders to web based EC directory. Folder to include EC requests as written by requestor.
11. Ensures efficient use of SAP transaction codes (display) to monitor and report plant activities related to Global ECs
12. Guide and direct less experienced personnel in the proper use of SAP, applying day to day design activities
13. Distributes for review new and completed EC's to their respective engineering product manager or authorized representative. Tracks and monitors progress, including plant compliance and local effectivity dates.
14. Conducts training as needed on EC process and use of EC forms.
REQUIREMENTS:
Associates degree in an Engineering discipline and 5 years experience in an Engineering environment. Experience includes knowledge of engineering change procedures, familiarity of JCI products, and their location of manufacture. Familiarity with MRP systems. Other experience may include background in design/drafting and Engineering specifications.
Must possess strong communications, negotiation, and organizational skills. Be self-driven and able to motivate others. Be proactive in assigning action items, follow-up, and drive for completion. Experienced in most phases of the York systems with an understanding of all related functions, including Marketing, Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing. Strong Personal Computer working capabilities in MS Office Suite, MAPICS, SAP, Myriad, and other software applications as needed.
