Description: The Mission Support Business Unit (MSBU) is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer. The candidate will design new mixed-signal custom communication products as well as expand and improve upon existing designs for networking and other communications applications. Develops designs for electronic, electro-mechanical, or mechanical equipment. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Candidate should have an understanding of the customer and customer's mission needs. Qualifications : Required Skills: Bachelors degree (or equivalent work experience) and 2 or more years of experience in digital and analog circuit design including power regulation and conditioning, mixed signal design, for products that include microcontrollers, memory, and FPGAs. The candidate must also have experience with hardware design packages such as OrCAD, and other hardware production processes including layout, and component/materials selection. The candidate must also have experience with designing hardware for networking and communications applications. Experience with embedded software development in C and experience coding in VHDL/Verilog is also required. Experience with test equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and software tools such as Wireshark is required. Candidate must have a SECRET level or higher clearance. Desired Skills: Experience with power distribution equipment and components. Experience with ASIC design and VLSI design/simulation/verification packages is highly desired. TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 6+ years related experience.
