Reporting to the Operations Manager and based in Tieri, Central Queensland you will be responsible for the engineering performance of one of Australia’s top performing underground coking coal operations – Xstrata’s Oaky No1 mine. As a senior member of the management team, you will provide clear accountabilities, visible leadership and management of the Engineering team to ensure that equipment and infrastructure meet and exceed requirements to deliver business objectives, whilst maintaining excellent safety standards.
Your key accountabilities will include cost control, continuous improvement of engineering standards (including monitoring and auditing those standards); and the development and implementation of long term asset management strategies and engineering and maintenance activities into the site business plan ensuring the operations’ long term growth and value objectives are delivered.
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly successful professional with underground mining experience and relevant qualifications. You will already be achieving superior results in a significant resource sector business and have an in-depth understanding of longwall engineering issues. This is a key role and as such requires a high level of commitment, strong leadership and communication skills and a proven track record in safety engineering management.
