Role Summary/Purpose
The Engineering Department at the moment consists of close to 40 highly qualified engineers, in areas of aircraft engine development and certification. The department is fully qualified Project organization under EASA/Part 21. Development is focusing on new product and also on sustaining engineering of world-wide engine fleet, in areas as engine performance, TBO (time before overhaul), production cost, etc. and full compliance with EASA regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
The Engineering Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives in GE Aviation Czech business. Integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the Engineering department. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within the research and development areas of expertise.
- Provide overall leadership and administrative management for assigned personnel in respective Engineering department
- Establish the strategy and implement change for the team
- Accountable for the team metrics and involved in long term planning
- Develop and maintain a productive working climate, promoting teamwork and cross-functional efforts to achieve and maintain excellence
- Lead the Engineering Section designated for NPI (New Product Introductions)
- Develop and execute the Engineering Strategy within Section and identify Synergy opportunities among subsections
- Ensure Section meets goals, objectives and expectations by establishing monitoring budget, programs and plans
- Direct responsibility to Chief Engineer
- Responsible for preparation and delivery of information needed for OP (Operating Plan), SII (one year plan) and Session C (human resources review) for the Section
- Maintain broad awareness of technical efforts within the work group in order to assure technical excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources and consistency of methods across programs within NPI department
Qualifications/Requirements
- Master’s Degree from a Technical University
- At least 5 additional years of experience in an Engineering management role, specifically at Aviation development program, candidate with longer experience is preferred
- Overall experience with certification process - EASA/FAA
- Solid technical skills and experience according to the scope of the team
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to document, plan, market, execute, control, close and manage programs, projects, orders, activities and systems
- Solid interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge / skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem
- Strong business acumen
- English language fluency
