Primary Responsibility is consumer client system architecture with strong electrical emphasis and knowledge of, or experience with, mechanical and software design.
Responsible for applied research or advanced engineering in the development of new products, materials, or processes. May serve as the lead strategist for a technology or a collection of technologies that constitute a solution. May also serve as the lead architect for a product or product family. Responsibilities include the assimilation and understanding of the industry and competitive environment for a given technology or product line, and the derivation of a technology/product strategy from this information. Duties include leading technology investigations, performing strategic analysis of the industry capabilities, and developing recommendations, which influence the technical product strategy and/or definition of products for a given product line including evaluation of potential acquisitions and vendor partner opportunities. Engages design teams, systems engineering, marketing teams, suppliers, and business unit leaders and executives to ensure the strategy or product architecture meets Dell’s requirement of product leadership for the given technology area or product line. Responsible for generating Intellectual Property.

· Generates IP including multiple invention disclosures per year and patent filings.
· Ability to represent Dell by presenting in public forums, contributing to technical publications, and leading in strategic industry forums.
· Provides mentoring and leadership in the Dell technical community.

· Knowledge of a product technology and system level integration.
· Knowledge of engineering methods in a field of specialty.
· Ability to interface effectively with suppliers to ensure they are doing research and providing information on products or services that have value to Dell, instigating and coordinating these efforts as necessary on a continual basis.
· Ability to represent Dell in negotiation with vendors, OEMs, or internal teams.
· Understanding of appropriate technologies, vendor products, and competitor's offerings.
· Understanding of Dell's long-term business goals and objectives.
· Undergraduate degree and 10+ years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 8+ years relevant experience.
