Engineering Program Manager

SUMMARY

The Engineering Program Manager, manages consumer projects from concept to production. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated product development abilities with a variety of electric home comfort or related products.  Must have an assertive work style and be comfortable managing multiple projects on a global basis.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

·         Lead Program manager. Work closely with a cross-functional global team.  Communicate to team effectively on program planning and progress. 

·         Manage vendors in China and US.

·         Manage development engineering projects with cross functional teams in China and US.

·         Work closely with UL/ETL on the submission of electrical products in the Home Health Care Category, example: Heating Pads or related products.

·         Use NPD process to effectively drive and track programs.

·         Is an active problem solver!

·         Drive and manage multiple program schedules and budgets up to date and report status of projects on a weekly basis

·         Responsible for program initial scoping, technical feasibility assessment, program budget.

·         Will ensure product documentation and specifications are available to support timely procurement

·         Provide technical solution and guidance to team and conduct design reviews

·         Maintain an accessible Product History File

·         Lead in the  planning and manage  the execution of new product development, conversion project, product transfer, and product cost take out.

EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience is required

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

3+ years of experience in product development and program management, working on the development of consumer or related electrical products.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

·         Demonstrated abilities with small appliance design, manufacturing and other practices including plastic design, molding, and electrical appliances.  

·         Possess pro-active attitude and provide leadership, project management and teamwork skills to interact with a cross-functional global team and direct them in achieving assigned goals and objectives

·         Ability to handle multiple projects and remain flexible and adaptable

·         Demonstrated delivery of projects within budget and schedule constraints in a fast paced environment

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently

·         Ability to collaborate with multiple global vendors and coordinate submittals, track vendor commitments on a schedule, and oversight of delivering quality products on schedule and within budget

·         Strong communication skills including ability to provide concise and accurate status of projects on a weekly basis

·         Demonstrated troubleshooting ability to identify issues, assess technical and project alternatives and risks, and implement solutions while keeping the projects on track

·         Working experience of electrical or electronic field is a plus, have a basic mechanical and electrical knowledge of small appliances

·         Working knowledge Underwriters Lab/ETLab submissions and management of the processes is a plus.   Additional knowledge of FDA, 13485, process validation, design history files, and international regulatory specifications and requirements is a plus

·         Working knowledge of FDA, ISO and Design History File would be a plus.

·         Basic knowledge of CAD (review purposes)

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office and Project

·         10% travel may be required.
