Engineering Specialist
Bachelor of Science Degree in any of the following:
Aerospace Engineering
Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Physics
- Support Abrams, Stryker, JLTV and/or GCV system thermal analysis and thermal architecture tasks
- Develop and validate vehicle thermal architecture thermal load database
- Perform transient state thermal assessment analyses
- Estimate vehicle heating and cooling needs
- Prepare and present written reports, status reports, presentations, and animations of results and findings.
- Organize, develop, lead, and participate in studies and analyses in support of various engineering efforts.
- Function as an interdisciplinary team member, as required, to support engineering projects in trade-off analyses, system/sub-system evaluations, requirements development, requirements analyses, and other duties as assigned.
- Perform day-to-day administrative tasks (contribute to briefings, write technical reports, etc.)
- Simulate a combat vehicle with different duty cycles and obtain thermal loading on different vehicle subsystems such as the C4ISR, crew station equipment etc.
- Write MATLAB code to summarize the thermal load database based on cooling methods, installation sub-zones etc.
- Write Simulink code to conduct TOEL based vehicle thermal load assessment.
Required:
- Experience with computer aided engineering (CAE) solutions for CFD and heat transfer engineering problems
- Experience using ANSA, MuSES and StarCCM
- Experience on physics-based thermal model development
- Experience with geometry clean-up and meshing
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and/or other system modeling tools
- Automotive or aeronautical systems/subsystems knowledge
- Able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time
- Able to review and share work in IPT environment
- Must have good communication skills and work well in a team environment
Desired:
- Knowledge and experience with tracked vehicle systems
- Knowledge and experience with modeling of combat systems cooling systems
- System/Subsystem Optimization and Design of Experiments Knowledge
