Engineering Technician

The members of the team will be working from a master list of Problem Reports (PR). The team member will review the PRs and determine what work will be required to make the changes that have been requested. This determination may require contacting the PR requestor, design engineers or manufacturing plants for clarification and additional information. The team member will use Pro/e and Windchill to make the desired changes. The team member will then follow the progress of the change once it has left the engineering phase and progresses through the Windchill system, in order to ensure that the changes do not lag or wait excessively, as the remaining tasks are completed. The team member will also answer any questions relating to the change, that supply management or manufacturing has, in order to ensure the most rapid implementation of the change possible. The team member will be required to work on and track multiple changes simultaneously.

Assist in design, development, costing, procurement, testing and communication of new customer order engineering items as requested by Marketing and Sales. Assist in development of new products. Research, coordinate, analyze and assist Engineers, Engineering Manager and Field Service Engineers in the identification, analysis of option, recommendations of solutions and implementation of solutions to field problems and product improvements. Provide product data and test results to Engineers and Engineering Managers on special application questions. Coordinate and assist Engineers in procurement, cost analysis, test setups. Work with OEM or customer in obtaining required drawings and specifications that are necessary to effectively interface Thermo King units. Assist Engineers in simplifying and combining options that will increase market penetration. Participate with Marketing in generating and obtaining specification of competitive units. Assist in record keeping, gathering of test data and report writing. Investigation standardization feasibilities and product uniformity. Coordinate efforts with Model Shop, Manufacturing and outside vendors in procurement of samples and in the building of prototypes. Work with Purchasing in identifying alternate source and qualifying suppliers. Prepares and reviews ECO’s to insure that engineering content is correct and that the manufacturing process is correct. Provide specialized coordination of Engineering information such as: Coordinate deviation system - communicate deviation/substitutions to all plants. Maintain records on deviations. Coordinate Thermo King engineering/manufacturing standards. Initiate and coordinate Engineering change requests (ECR’s) from all plants. Represent Engineering at material review board. Assist Project Engineers in the preparation of design reviews and in product presentations. Travel to other plants, and assist in training on ECO’s, Bills of Materials, unit start-up and test procedures. Travel to OEM’s to resolve field problems and assist in prototype installation and test.

Windchill Experience is a MUST have! Refrigeration system experience is a plus
