Engineering Technician

NOTE: There may be more than one position and the work could be part time or full time.

Upon successful contract award, this position would support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Keyport/Bangor Washington. This position is governed by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

The successful candidate will perform maintenance and repair of Heavyweight torpedoes (HWT), Lightweight torpedoes (LWT), and VLA in accordance with established procedures, documentation, and best practices. Technicians will be required to perform mechanical assembly and test, electrical assembly and test, visual inspections, and disassembly of mechanical and electrical components. Work will be recorded by established methods on paper and/or electronic (on-line) systems. Provide technical and documentation support for HWT IMA/Depot. Prepare technical data changes utilizing TMDER. Provide support to the IMA/Depot during TCEB or audits. Support planning, scheduling, logistics, operation and maintenance for HWT and LWT programs including torpedo components and associated test and handling equipment. Utilize APCS, SPAS and HTTDS to support production control. Technicians will be required to demonstrate to the government knowledge and ability to perform individual tasks before being allowed to perform those tasks without government oversight. In many cases, performance of certain tasks will require a follow-up inspection for verification or performance even after demonstration of knowledge and abilities by the technician. Primary publications for HWT torpedoes are SW513-EO-PRO-40, 50 and 60. LWT torpedoes are primary processed in the electronic system APCS. Work will be performed primarily at Keyport or Bangor WA.

Required Skills:
1. Exclusive US Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance immediately upon hiring. Failure to obtain some form of Secret clearance upon hiring will result in immediate termination.

2. Education required: High School diploma/GED with 9 years related experience

3. Documented experience in maintenance of HWT/LTW/VLA torpedo components and systems
 
4. Experience in operations and tooling for torpedo maintenance including pneumatic and pressure devices, pressure regulators, valves, electrical switches, gear assemblies, shafts, linkages, actuators, and pumps

5. Experience working from shop orders, check lists, specifications, assembly drawings, schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, procedures and operational documentation

6. Ability to lift, handle and carry up to 75 pounds

7. Experience using MS Office Suite/MS Outlook and other computer based applicationsPreferred Skills:
1. Additional Education: Associates Degree with 7 years related experience

2. Hands on experience at a Torpedo IMA performing maintenance functions including disassembly, reassembly, testing, cleaning, adjusting, repairing, overhauling and modifying hardware

3. Knowledge and experience with Automated Process Control System/Shop Process Automated System/Heavyweight Torpedo Technical Data System/Material Inventory Management System/Shop Workload Management System/Torpedo Management Inventory System

4. Hazardous material handling training and experience

5. Ability to communicate and interface effectively with production shop and support personnel

6. Demonstrated experience showing performance as an effective member of a successful team
