SUMMARY: Provide engineering support to assigned projects; formulate and implement approaches for solving a wide array of problems; design and develop electronic and mechanical systems for data collection; collect physical samples, visual images and electronic signals; work with novel power systems such as energy harvesting systems using thermal differences, ambient vibration or motion, fuel cells and advanced battery chemistries and sophisticated manufacturing methods such as rapid prototyping using SLS, injection molding and CNC mills; routinely consult with Program/Project Leads regarding status of work assignments; direct and supervise the work of technicians as may be required; provide comprehensive written product for monthly progress reports, final reports and proposals; prepare and present oral presentations to customers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Requires a BS or MS degree Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Physics with at least a 3.5 GPA; 1-2 years of experience in electromechanical design, mechanical design and system integration is desired. Applicants with recent or current DOD Secret Clearance is desired. Must be proficient with SolidWorks, MatLab and MS product suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); must be able to specify sensor and data collection requirements; must be able to evaluate commercial equipment options relative to design requirements; must have working knowledge of robotics and mobility platforms; must have well developed written and oral communication skills and be able to work well independently and in team environment. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
