Role Overview
In an advisory capacity it involves working with clients to provide consulting advice on developing technology architecture strategies and aligned roadmaps. The ability to communicate complex technology situations and their solutions to senior executives in both business and commercial terms is very important. Equally important is to assess challenging technology problems with direction on how to resolve the issues. In a thought leadership role it is to provide a point of view of new and existing technologies and how they may be applied in ways to drive increased customer satisfaction and bottom line business value including total cost of ownership. Such areas will include the application of new banking platforms, customer channel technologies such as mobile, web services, data tools and analytics, cloud computing, high performance computing, server virtualisation to name a few. Most importantly in a delivery capacity is the ability to architect, design and estimate complex Capital Markets or Banking Solutions. The role requires someone with a passion for the detail, significant consulting and leadership experience in architecture roles, strong understanding of governance, deep experience in system integration, and a capability to frame and deliver a compelling value argument to senior board level executives.
Key Responsibilities
Consultant able to take any of the following roles:
- Chief architect of enterprise level architecture definition and major programme solution architecture
- Leader of strategy teams where they take a technology consulting role
- Senior member of client technology architecture function, including the ability to mobilise an architecture function as well as participate in it within a senior leadership role
- An SME in one or more enterprise architecture areas (data, application, infrastructure, security)
- Within Capco, to act in the capacity of coach or mentor to architects, enabling them to develop their skills in technology architecture, and to take ownership in the development of Capco’s technology practice. Also to be a leader within the practice bringing fresh and innovative ideas to our clients.
Experience
- Extensive financial services experience (retail banking or capital markets) ideally gained within a consulting firm
- Performed an advisory role to Executives in Financial Services
- Very strong consulting skills with the ability to adapt your language to engage clients.
- Experience in balancing the theory with business implementation realities including driving both near term and long term business value
- Someone who is confident to challenge the norms and provide compelling examples on how to tackle problems differently.
- Someone who has driven innovation into organisations and has a network of partners that have provided innovative solutions.
- Specialist understanding of the specific enterprise technology architecture underpinning a major function within a financial services organisation
- Demonstration of solution ownership across a number of different types of application and technologies throughout the delivery lifecycle
- Expert understanding and ability to apply technical considerations to designs across all architecture domains – i.e. data, channel applications, security implications, infrastructure requirements
- Deep understanding of emerging technologies and evidence of thought leadership in their application within the financial services industry
- Practical experience in design and implementation of leading edge technologies such as digital and mobile technologies, channel management technologies, cloud computing.
- Experience of leadership in enterprise architecture analysis, design and strategy, developing major architecture roadmaps that align and underpin an organisations business strategy – evidence of the ability to execute against that strategy to deliver significant business benefits and meet organisational objectives
- Actively develops and champions technology architecture standards, procedures and best practice
- Experience in establishing and leading architecture governance
- Technology architecture experience in Java/.Net/C++ solutions and EAI middleware technologies such as MQ, SOA, Message Bus

- 100% travel to client site may be required
