The Enterprise Information Architect is a member of the enterprise architecture group, and is under the general direction of the Director of Enterprise Architecture. The main focus of the Data Architecture will be the definition and maintenance of the enterprise view of business information and data. The Data Architect will analyze enterprise data and information needs and maintain the models to support those requirements. The Data Architect will need to work closely with other enterprise architects, business analysts, data modelers, database administrators, etc* in order to complete their duties.
Role and Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with key stakeholders on the definition of business information objects and enterprise data structures, including canonical models for entities like media assets, talent, contracts, right and restrictions, etc...
2. Supporting development/engineering by assisting with and/or leading the effort to define the structure of data inflight and at rest; this includes messaging schemas for deep interoperability, business entity objects, and data structures for persistence.
3. Help define departmental and enterprise data governance and assist in the facilitation of the governance process. This includes collaborating on the development of metadata management standards, data quality standards, and standards for information security.
4. Define a long-term strategy for information and metadata management, and develop a roadmap, and support a continual progression towards those goals.
5. Consult with the Data Services and Business Intelligence teams on:
a. The design of information in-flight and data at rest.
b. The flow of data, its lineage, and its stewardship.
6. Working with the Architectural Review Board and other key executives, help define standards and policies for the use of data in internal and external cloud offerings including SaaS (software), IaaS(infrastructure), and APaaS(Application Platform) models.
7. Help define data access profiles and service levels, and facilitate the onboarding of data storage and access technologies to support the service needs.
8. Perform other duties as needed and as directed by supervisor.
Requirements:
1. Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or other information technology oriented major is a must; an MBA is preferred.
2. Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience as an Information and Data Architect, and at least 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Must be able to demonstrate a solid background in database design, metadata management, data governance, data flow analysis, data modeling, canonical modeling, and have a solid understanding of service oriented architecture, agile modeling, domain driven design, and data warehousing. Experience with Master Data Management is a definite plus.
3. Technology: Must have experience with data architecture modeling tools (embarcadero and CA ERwin) and multiple data stores (Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL*Server, and LDAP directories). Must have experience with tools for developing canonical models as XSD*s (XML Spy). Must understand SQL and XML data structures. Must have a proven understanding and experience with ETL tools (Informatica), data presentation frameworks (performance point, and business objects), and data profiling tools.
4. Skills/Abilities: Must have a solid understanding of the basic EA concepts and EA theory, and an expertise in data architecture. Candidate needs the ability to lead research and canonical modeling projects, and have the ability to plan and accomplish goals within a team environment.
