Enterprise Data Governance Manager Job Purpose/Role

This highly visible position is part of the newly formed Date Governance team. In this role, the manager will drive the critical function of data governance and quality initiatives for the AAA Enterprise. This includes leading the data governance function and the day-to-day activities of data governance projects. This role will function with the strong sponsorship of the key leaders within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leads the execution of the data governance strategy, objectives and action plans.
• Develops implements and monitors data governance policies and procedures.
• Develop and institute data lifecycle processes and undertake initiatives to:
• Improve the processes that capture and process the data.
• Improve overall enterprise data quality and reliability.
• Initiate and maintain data governance metrics management.
• Ensures consistency of data definitions, business rules and processes.
• Develops audit plans that conforms to enterprise audit standards.
• Ensures resolution of data integration issues.
• Escalates data governance conflicts as appropriate to the data governance steering commmittee.
• Ensures compliance with enterprise security and privacy standards.
• Establishes information quality objectives and plans.
• Establishes and facilitates enterprise data stewardship network responsible for executing data quality action plans.
• Develops / delivers education and communication initiatives supporting importance of
data quality to those in the organization who capture, record, and/or use data.
• Define and implement data governance metrics.
• Track, monitor, and publish data governance scorecards.
• Prepares and executes data governance communication plan.
• Provide updates to executive sponsor and steering committee.
• Leads data governance program team.

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience:

• 5 - 7 years of cross-functional experience within the property casualty insurance industry.
• Educational requirements - BA/BS or equivalent business experience preferred.
• Program management experience preferred.
• Six Sigma certification desirable
• Passion for managing information as a corporate resource; recognizes the business value of data.
• Results orientation; passion for excellence and achievement and consistently exceeds short and long term goals.
• Expert communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical and interpretive skills to identify business improvement needs and develop/implement solutions in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional business relationships.
• Ability to influence at all levels, be persuasive and a good listener and assimilator of ideas and perspectives.
• Solid planning and organizational skills with focus on time-management and prioritization along with the ability to align and leverage resources as appropriate.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Demonstrated experience with data management practices, data warehouse concepts, and data management tools.
