iMethods is currently seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect for a contract-to-hire position in Jacksonville, FL.
General Description:
The Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect is responsible for defining and delivering the enterprise data warehouse solution, from both a discipline and technology standpoint, to support the company’s BI environment. The Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect owns and maintains the enterprise data model, sets project technical direction and provides oversight and checkpoints to enforce data warehouse standards and quality of solutions.
The Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect is responsible for collaborating with the internal business and technology partners and other stakeholders to ensure the correct technology is in place to deliver timely and accurate information to support enterprise decision-making. The Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect researches new technologies, tools and methodologies as they emerge that may be applicable to the EDW architecture. The Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect will lead efforts to define and refine data models, define and refine disciplines, mentor team members on those standards and review all designs to ensure that project teams are meeting expectations for quality and conformity
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and lead meetings to review the design of all BI projects. This will include high-level design of the overall solution and detailed design of components as needed (EDW, Data Mart, ETL, user interface, analysis/reporting, etc.).
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams and other architects (e.g. BI Access/Delivery and ETL) on all aspects of BI architecture (RDBMS specifics for SQL Server and Netezza, normalized and dimensional data modeling, ETL, reporting, master data management, metadata management, data quality, data security, data profiling etc.)
- Provide guidance and leadership on specific delivery methodologies for EDW projects, such as technical requirements, design patterns, code reviews and testing procedures
- Set strategy and oversee design for significant data modeling work, such as Enterprise Logical Models, Conformed Dimensions, Enterprise, Client, and Retailer Hierarchies etc.
- Lead efforts to define/refine execution standards for all BI/EDW layers (ETL, data modeling, MOLAP/ROLAP/OLAP, reporting, platform etc.).
- Provide assistance to project teams as they go before change control boards to implement their projects into production
- Regularly interact with BI leadership on project work status, priority setting and resource allocations.
- Research new tools and/or new architecture and review with project teams as applicable
- Work with support team to define methods for implementing solutions for performance measurement and monitoring
- Assist infrastructure leads as needed with background and information on all technologies in use for projects such as new version upgrades, migration of hardware, production issues, etc.
- Provide leadership and guidance on setting up environments used by the BI team so that they are optimized for a leveraged, multi-tenant operation
Required Experience Education:
- Bachelor degree or at least 7 years overall experience in IT applications development or consulting related to IT applications development
- Designing star schema data models
- Designing normalized data models for historical data warehouses
- Design and Developing with ETL tools
- Designing and developing with MOLAP/ROLAP/OLAP Tools
- Designing and developing with Relational Reporting Tools
- Managing or coordinating the time and activities of other people and other groups
- ERWin for Data Modeling or similar
- Relational DBMS – experience with “appliance-like” platforms, such as Netezza (preferred), Teradata, or others
- Experience with leading ETL tools with a focus on SQL Server Integration Services
- Experience with leading OLAP/ROLAP tools (Cognos BI, Microsoft BI etc.)
- Experience with relational reporting tools (Cognos BI, Microsoft BI etc.)
Knowledge Skills:
- Demonstrated experience and success managing, planning and administration of project tasks and dependencies.
- Organizational leadership
- Oversight of design and delivery for BI Foundational solutions
- Ability to facilitate with cross-functional requirement gathering meetings and provide updates on the team status meetings.
- Ability to develop project related documentation
- Ability to develop relationships with internal Customers and Service Providers.
- Demonstrated experience working on strategy projects and evaluating software in the Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse and/or Data Management space.
- Demonstrated experience implementing BI/EDW foundational programs such as Data Security, Metadata, Master Data, Data Quality, etc.
