The role: Enterprise Sales Engineering Manager, Federal The Enterprise team at Google is on the front lines of helping the globe "go Google." As an Enterprise Direct Sales representative, you evangelize Google tools like Apps, Search and Chrome to leading companies, schools and government agencies. You champion the innovative power of our products to make these large accounts more productive, collaborative and mobile. You bring Google's portfolio into big and small companies around the world, and handling complex customer and stakeholder relationships comes easy to you. We are looking for a Sales Engineering Manager with excellent technical, communication and organizational skills to join our Enterprise Federal team. You will lead a team of pre-sales engineers who engage with sales prospects, understand and assess customer requirements, prepare and present demonstrations of Google Enterprise products, and address technical questions that arise throughout the Federal sales process. You should be a confident presenter with excellent oral and written communication skills. You should be a strong motivator and posses excellent interpersonal skills required to manage a diverse set of engineering professionals. Working as a "player-coach" you should also maintain personal technical expertise and be prepared to engage directly with Google Enterprise prospects as the opportunity presents itself. In addition, you should feel comfortable working closely with our product, support, engineering, and sales teams. Responsibilities: Staff for Success. Works with Sales and Sales Engineering management to determine proper staffing levels to support annualized sales goals. Establishes job requisitions, assembles candidate pool and leads interview team to fill open positions. Organize, Train and Equip the SE Team. Assesses SE team go-to-market readiness, identifies gaps in SE preparedness and builds plans to ensure Federal SE team is properly trained and equipped to successfully perform in support of annualized sales goals. Works with members of the SE team to ensure team can successfully deliver and use a variety of techniques to include white board and slide presentations, product demonstrations, white papers, trial management and RFI/RFP response documents to help enterprise prospects fully understand the Google Enterprise product offering value. Support Sales. Works with Federal Sales team to identify, qualify and staff sales opportunities. Participates in periodic pipeline and opportunity review meetings providing insight in how to best obtain technical win. Reviews opportunity pipeline with SE team for the purpose of identifying key customer technical objections and developing the strategy to resolve technical impediments to closing sales transactions. Maintain Customer Satisfaction. Works with the sales account team, customer support, product management, engineering and professional services to identify and resolve product problems and deficiencies affecting pre and post sales customer satisfaction. Travel 50% required to visit customers throughout the US. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical major. In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant experience. 3 years experience serving the capacity of a pre-sales engineering manager successfully leading the team to achieve sales goals throughout the performance period backed by 5 years serving in the capacity of a sales engineer. Preferred Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of messaging systems, architectures and technologies with a special emphasis on unified messaging to include email (SMTP), instance messaging (IM), video and audio chat, web conferencing and VOIP. Understanding of enterprise networking concepts (DNS, TCP, DMZ) with a particular emphasis on mail routing and proxy architectures along with an understanding of network identity management systems to include SSO, SAML, LDAP, Kerberos and NTLM. Conversant in Web 2.0 development platforms and solutions to include J2EE, Java servlets, javascript, XML/XSLT/XHTML/HTML, ASP, CGI, Ajax, cookies, session management and flash. Demonstrable ability to create demo scripts in any one of the following scripting/programming languages: Java, C#, Javascript, Python, Perl and/or Shell Scripting. Knowledge of GIS technologies is desired including common data formats for vector, terrain and imagery data types, as well as applications including ESRI, MapInfo, Oracle Spatial, ERDAS, PCI Geomatics and ER Mapper. Knowledge of SQL and experience developing queries and data extraction scripts for relational databases is desired. Travel 50%+ required to visit customers throughout the US.
