Entry Level Front Office Systems Developer recruitment

Opportunity

The company is looking to recruit a highly motivated person to fill the role of Front Office Systems Developer. They will work within the Systems Development Team who provide bespoke systems and support for the Fixed Income Front Office functions within MG Investments.

This is an entry level opportunity; we are looking for a candidate with strong analytical and numeric skills who has the appetite to progress to the role of developer. Full training will be provided in MS Office VBA, ASP, ASP.Net, C# and SQL in order to develop the candidates programming skills to allow them to develop and support Intranet and MS Office based Projects for the Fixed Income Front Office.

Key responsibilities

- Supporting and delivering bespoke systems to the Fixed Income Front Office.
- Issue/problem management including defining actions for other areas in Information System and Technical Services teams.
- Finding creative and innovative solutions to technical problems.

What we are looking for

Essential
- Must have strong analysis/investigation skills and be able to find creative sustainable solutions to system issues and user problems.
- Must have strong numeric skills.
- MG are looking for a motivated individual with a high level of responsibility and an eye for quality.
- The candidate should be quick to respond to user issues and the general demands of the business area supported.
- Ability to work reliably without close supervision.
- Good interpersonal skills are key, the candidate must be able to work well with other members of the team, as well as communicate directly with our Fund Managers.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and deal diplomatically with users.
- High level of PC literacy including a good working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Excel and Access.
- Degree level or equivalent level in a computing, engineering or mathematics based subject, achieving a grade of a 2:1 or above

Desirable
- Any experience of developing desktop applications using tools such as MS Access and MS Excel VBA macros.
- Prior experience of SQL, C# or Web design / development would be beneficial.
- Experienced in issue/problem management - on both technical and user/process basis.
- Any experience working in Finance or Fund Management.
