Want to become a paralegal? No experience required. Our client, a prominent IP Boutique in Washington DC is currently expanding their firm and will be hiring a patent paralegal to support several of their partners. No experience required but a 3.2 GPA necessary. Qualified candidates will have a biology or technical science degree and and some experience/exposure to patent litigation or prosecution. Basic responsibilities include: · Providing legal assistance to assigned timekeepers in all areas of patent prosecution, maintenance, and litigation. · Maintaining a current knowledge of US and foreign rules and procedures, and Firm procedures relating to patents. · Organizing and maintaining patent prosecution and maintenance dockets and files relating to the same. · Drafting correspondence including letters to clients, the PTO, foreign associates and vendors relating to patent searches, prosecution, and maintenance. · Organize Biotech patent application files. Filling out a check list, organizing the file as necessary, interfacing with Attorneys and Student Associates to obtain missing items such as original photographs that are used in drawings, amino acid or nucleotide sequences on disk, and microbiological deposit receipts. Where necessary, the Paralegal will also assist the Timekeeper in obtaining microbiological deposits at international depositories. REQUIREMENTS: Four- year technical degree in Biology, Chemistry, BioChemistry or related scientific discipline with a GPA of at least 3.2 0-2 years of experience as a legal assistant preferred but willing to train right candidate; paralegal certificate a plus but not required. Individual must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills. Individual must be able to meet deadlines, complete projects and work efficiently under pressure, productively and in a professional manner.
