Environment Lead recruitment
A vacancy exists for an Environment Lead within Global Wholesale Banking Technology and Operations (GWBTO) team based in Croydon. The successful candidate will focus on key environment management procedures from management of environments to project managing new environments. They will be responsible for ensuring the test environments are up and running with the code baseline and will have day to day responsibility for the day to day running. They will also be involved in configuration management and release management.
Responsibilities
- Manage the implementation of multiple portfolios/initiatives and application support items into production.
- Manage multiple conflicting business / technology priorities.
- Ensure visibility of environments and their contents.
- Reporting future planned usage and any conflicts to senior partners in both Asia, US and EMEA
- Manage code from perforce into test environments or the chosen configuration management tool
- Book and manage the test environments of the applications to ensure they are utilised as efficiently as possible
- Help projects in planning their upcoming release dates and mitigate against any potential conflicts with other projects
- Ensure movement of code to the environments is auditable.
- Working with global customers and support groups and ensuring everything is fully communicated and understood.
- Define, implement and execute environment strategy improvements to meet the demands for ability to deliver far higher volume of change to the platform with no reduction in stability
- Influence developers/testers and other wider team members to ensure the needs and standards of release management are considered and met throughout the project lifecycle and where necessary auditable.
- Co-ordinate releases and environment requests out of hours when required
- Communicate with stakeholders on the status of the environments and provide input into a weekly deck
- Assisting with audit initiatives
- Support the Configuration Management Team
Requirements
Essential
- Knowledge of the Environment Management and Release Management function within complex financial global institutions.
- Knowledge of ITIL
- Ability to work in a global company with offshore teams/team members
- Attention to detail and accuracy are essential; must be pro-active, enthusiastic, flexible, and results driven.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with various stakeholders e.g. business partners, project manager technical lead, developers and testing associates who may be based in various geographical locations and timeframes.
- Analytical and organised

- Work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changes in priorities.
- Strong oral and written communications
- Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Project Management skills
Desirable
- Ability to work with offshore colleagues.
- Experience of using software configuration management systems.
- ITIL qualified.
- Knowledge of IMS DB/DC, COBOL DB2, CA7, Unix environment and SWIFT messaging.
- Knowledge of SDLC / DMAIC
- Experience of collaboration tools (SharePoint, wiki platforms).
- Experience of Endevor
- Experience of Quality Centre
- Knowledge of Focalpoint
