SUMMARY PARAGRAPH OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Apollo Chemist is responsible for the performance of tasks associated with preparing, testing, packing and inspecting all chemical wastes in accordance with CHESI policies and procedures while at the client site.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
· Make waste pickups at labs as needed.
· Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restrictions notifications.
· Identify unknown laboratory chemicals when they are encountered.
· Perform inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.
· Inspect storage area for leaks or spills.
· Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations.
· Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
· Sampling and profiling of new waste streams or any wastes needing analytical testing.
· Prepare all necessary tracking paperwork.
· Utilize CHOICE waste management software to efficiently and accurately manage waste program.
· Assign proper waste codes to all materials that are designated for disposal.
· Maintain and manage waste profile data.
· Evaluate specialty waste materials such as gas cylinders and potentially explosive compounds and determine disposal options
· Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
B.S./B.A.in Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Science degree or related experience (preferred).
REQUIRED LICENSE(S)/ENDORSEMENT(S)
· 40 Hour OSHA Training.
· Forklift Training and certification.
· Reactive Materials certification.
· DOT Training.
· CleanPack Chemist Training Course.
· LICENSES: Valid drivers license with clean driving record (*see definition below)
· Commercial drivers license-Class “B/C” with hazardous materials (preferred)
· Clean Driving record, for the purposes of CHESI employment, includes:
· No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
· No DUI/DWI in past 3 years
· No preventable accidents in the past year
· No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years
· No serious moving violations in past 3 years, i.e., Reckless driving, Driving to endanger, Open alcohol containers, etc.
