SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting with the administration of key Environmental, Health Safety functions for MT-NA including: safety program development, MTC safety facilitation, involving and coaching others as required to support safety initiatives, coordination of customer information requests, requesting insurance certificates, and assisting with other safety requirements as assigned; building services responsibility to assure a safe, clean, suitably equipped and well maintained work environment. All activities will be conducted in a manner that facilitates business goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Environmental, Health Safety 95%
- Respond to customer requests for MT-NA Safety information certificates of insurance.
- Maintain statistics and logs for incidents and injuries.
- Maintain safety recordkeeping requirements as per governmental laws and regulations.
- Assist with creation and maintenance of the EHS program, including power-points, policy changes, and procedures.
- Maintain employee ID cards for MT-NA, and security cards to MTC building personnel.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment at MTC with building audits, emergency response team training, and the MTC emergency action plan.
- Assist with company safety initiatives, communications, govt. audits, monthly quarterly reports.
Building Services 5%
· Interface with the Building Owner Representatives and forward maintenance work orders.
· Manage MTC specific issues;
o Food and Beverage Vending, door cabinet locks/keys; emergency electric generator, furniture and furnishings, plant service, refrigerators, ice machines, off-site record retention (Fireproof), building access security.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILIES
There are no assigned direct reports associated with this position. The Safety Representative will need to effectively facilitate voluntary participation by team members on specific projects and initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Understanding of methods for addressing safety requirements and building services requirements, (combined knowledge from education, training and experience).
· Communication skills:
o Conversation skills (listening/understanding, clear and concise verbal presentation)
o Reports (well written – accuracy, grammar, spelling)
· Effectiveness / Leadership / Facilitation skills:
o Self-starter who will identify problems and take appropriate corrective action without supervision.

o Ability to develop relationships that assure future success.
· Analytic skills:
o Ability to analyze work request data, determine trends and propose appropriate action.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE A (4-Year) BS Degree in Health and Safety with two years of safety related work experience is desired; a (2-Year) Associates Degree in Health and Safety with three years of safety related work experience may be considered. General working knowledge of building facilities/systems and two years experience in building services is desired.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to: compute rate, ratio, and percent: draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office software including: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook. Ability to search internet for data related to work assignments. Keep detailed computer records of safety data and building service requests / status.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for approximately 80% of the time, stand 10%, walk 5%, and kneel or bend 5%. The incumbent must be able to use a personal computer and talk on the phone. The job involves lifting tasks normally limited to 20 lbs or less. Travel requirements for this position are typically less than 5%, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle could be required in those instances.
