Posted Position Title: Environmental Health Safety Site Manager Career Level: Experienced Function Environmental Health Safety Function Segment: General EHS Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: New Jersey City: Whippany Postal Code: 07981-1602 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose: The Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Site Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives for the Whippany, NJ facility. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. In this role, you will: Essential Responsibilities - Develop and implement site-specific EHS programs and processes including emergency preparedness and fire protection, safety risk assessments and safe working procedures for non-office activities, hazardous waste management, HS training, ergonomics, contractor safety, security access control, manned guarding, and crisis management - Work with the business operational managers to ensure that all operational activities are clearly identified and risk assessed to ensure safe working procedures are developed and any safety hazards are appropriately controlled (e.g. barriers and engineering controls) - Drive improvements in compliance processes, employee training, and EHS performance - Support the facilities team to identify safety and security critical equipment and develop preventative maintenance plans to manage these effectively and compliantly - Work with the project team to review EHS / Security status of project to ensure a compliant, safe and secure facility is handed-over to operations fully commissioned and tested prior to occupancy - Be responsible for identification and timely submission of all applicable EHS permits (fire safety occupancy permits and any environmental / operating permits required for the operation of the facility) - Coordinate site emergency response plan with site security focal and incident management team - Develop a training plan to cover both site induction orientations and task specific safety training - Induct and train local employees and contractors / service companies in basic EHS awareness, GE / local rules, and also on job-specific risks - Conduct compliance and framework audits and reviews necessary to meet company and local compliance requirements to reduce risk liability - Establish injury prevention initiatives focused on world-class health and safety performance Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college - Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in EHS management with manufacturing experience ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS : - Legal authorization to work in the US is required. Desired Characteristics - Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Science - Prior EHS experience in a manufacturing environment - Prior experience managing environmental permits and culture change - Knowledge of OSHA, RCRA, CAA, NPDES, TSCA, CWA and DOT regulations - Ability to implement EHS programs and achieve measurable goals - Ability to self-manage and organize priorities - Prior operational experience of business continuity planning and incident management is preferred - Strong project management skills - Strong organizational and analytical skills - Six Sigma training (GE employees only) - Strong auditing skills - Ability to train and motivate employees - Strong oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Why join one great company when you can join many?
