Environmental Opportunity Fund Advisor – Environmental Technology recruitment

As the successful candidate, you will have a keen interest in driving change and be responsible for working with internal and external experts to conduct technical evaluations and due diligence on funding opportunities to insure best allocation of the fund based on risk/reward criteria.  You will also develop funding and contractual arrangements and continuously monitor and direct the projects, setting metrics and milestones which will allow ongoing funding decisions to be effectively made. 

The successful candidate will require the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with individuals in the group and professional disciplines in the business units, and with external technology providers/researchers to assist and direct their work.

This position will appeal to an individual who is a self-starter and who is interested in a challenging career in a changing oil and gas industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with BU and Environment and Strategic Planning staff to develop risk/reward evaluation methods for external projects
  • Appraise and recommend external investment opportunities, drawing upon internal and external experts to assist as required
  • Negotiate and assist in preparing contracts and commercial arrangements, developing milestones, and monitoring, directing and post-appraisal of external research activities
  • Monitor industry news and trends related to environmental innovations to reduce impacts of development to identify technologies which could be used internally
  • Assist in preparation of presentations and materials to be distributed to management
  • Manage the portfolio of financial securities relating to investments and prepare appropriate reporting relating to their performance
  • Advise, prepare, and execute disposition of securities when appropriate
  • Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or science strongly preferred
  • Post graduate finance (CFA, MBA) or related education would be considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of environmental technology and/or oil and gas experience 
  • Joint venture and/or venture capital experience preferred
  • Works well independently within an unstructured environment
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Strong PowerPoint and MS Word skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
