Job Description Environmental Professional - EIS Focus Tired of working away from home, rosters and 12 hour shifts? This is a diverse and well supported environmental role that will keep you involved in the booming Bowen Basin region while being able to enjoy the lifestyle this beautiful region of North Queensland can offer. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist/Engineer to join the environment team in our Mackay office. This is a stimulating role with a focus on clients in the mining, port, road and rail sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordinating, delivery and monitoring of environmental projects with the opportunity to coordinate / manage regional EIS projects. Leading a team of 3 or 4 local environmental staff, professional AECOM environment teams in Townsville and Brisbane are able to assist and support as needed. Together, these local and regional teams provide exposure to a wide variety of environmental disciplines. Another facet of the role will include the management and mentoring of other environmental staff as well as identifying and bidding for potential business opportunities. Previous experience in these areas would be well regarded. Applicants need to detail their recognized degree qualification in Environmental Science, Science or Environmental Engineering, and a significant number of years experience in mining/heavy industry or consulting. It is expected that the successful applicant will have a strong technical background in environmental impact studies or another of the environmental disciplines relevant to our Central Queensland business (e.g. contaminated land assessment, environmental planning and approvals, auditing or environmental management systems). Success in this role will require self-motivation, a strong technical background and excellent verbal and written skills. Previous experience in client management is desirable. The ability to work within a team or individually is essential, as is attention to detail and time management skills.
