Our Fabrics division is looking for an Environmental Specialist to advance our Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) capability from a conceptual model, to a tool that is actively used by the business to influence product development. By providing expertise across functions the Environmental Specialist will drive continuous environmental improvement of our product portfolio.
Some key activities in this role include: completing the current LCA Update Project in cooperation with external consultants and keeping our tool scientifically valid in future; developing an environmental measurement tool for our product portfolio that the businesses are excited about adopting; proactively providing continuous expert knowledge on the environmental impact that our Fabrics products have across their entire lifecycle.
You will also be required to drive our understanding and use of LCA on a global scale for Fabrics, integrating LCA thinking across the PS, Sales/Marketing, RD functions; creating awareness amongst functional teams of the impact their activities have on the environment; embedding LCA based thinking in product development tools and processes; identify opportunities and initiate projects to improving the environmental performance of our products, ranging from raw material selection to manufacturing processes to the durability of the end-product.
Ideally the successful candidate has the following profile:
- A technical degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Knowledge in environmental sciences (know typical environmental concepts like green house gas effect, ozone depletion, acidification, exotoxicity, water footprint etc.)
- Experience with LCA or other environmental assessment tools would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence
- The ability to work on technical details and at the same shape and pursue a long term strategy
- Proven project management skills
- Computer savyness, ability to learn new programs quickly
- Ability to build and maintain relationships and develop wide global networks
- Excellent communication skills in English.
