Job Description New York, NY - Environmental Remediation - Geologist III AECOM has an opening for a Mid Level Geologist in our Manhattan, NY office with task management experience for industrial, commercial, and government projects specifically including Brownfield and Manufactured Gas Plant cleanup programs and utility industry related programs.. The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing geological and hydrogeological data in both the field and office settings. The field activities will consist of air, soil vapor, soil, groundwater and sediment sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of investigation and remediation subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies. The ideal candidate will successfully demonstrate achievement, proficiency, and progressive responsibility in the following areas: * Task Management Experience * Strong technical background * Must have demonstrated a primary technical role in multiple site characterization, subsurface investigation and remediation projects at MGP/Brownfield sites * Preparing complex site conceptual models * Collecting and evaluating environmental data in field and office settings * Preparing investigation reports and drawings * Strong technical report writing skills * Investigation cost estimating * Identifying, preparing and demonstrating compliance with relevant permits * Independent field work and leadership of field teams * Contractor oversight Qualifications: Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in geology (master's degree a plus) as well as 4 to 8 years of experience in environmental consulting. All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. OSHA 40-hr training preferred. Demonstration of knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus: manufactured gas plant sites; New York/New Jersey environmental regulations; remedial investigations, contractor management and project management. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background; excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective organizational skills; proficiency in MS Office; time management skills; flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects; and an eagerness to acquire new skills and meet new challenges. Ability to lead technical staff, and provide a quality, consistent product to the client are essential qualifications. Must be familiar with various site investigation methods, and soil/groundwater remediation technologies, and have a background in NAPL assessment, qualitative and quantitative hydrogeology, data evaluation, and management issues. Must have ability to effectively communicate technical issues to clients and mentor staff in execution of field programs and report preparation.
