PROJECT: Parsons is providing environmental services with both on-site and off-site supporting staff at this Perth Amboy, New Jersey refinery. Environmental services include implementation and management of design/build construction projects, feasibility studies, construction oversight, preparation of all phases of environmental reporting, value engineering/technical peer reviews and implementation of site wide health and safety programs. POSITION OVERVIEW : Performs conventional and moderately-complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline. The Engineer at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and Company procedures. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations, is expected. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status. Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses. Provides support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance. May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project. Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project. Serves as the task and field team leader for environmental remediation projects using source removal, containment, in-situ remediation, bioremediation, capping and natural attenuation approaches and performs scope development, pre-design investigation, data evaluation, design, and implementation. Practical experience with field implementation of in-situ remediation technologies such as chemical oxidation is preferred. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Qualifications PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 4-year degree in Engineering, Environmental or Civil and 5-8 years of related work experience. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate and working towards a P.E license is preferred. Experience in soil and ground water investigation, in-situ remediation, OM, air sampling, air monitoring, etc. Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering. Proficient in NJDEP Technical Requirements for Site Remediation and NJ Field Sampling Manual. OSHA 40 hour and current 8 hour refresher course. Ability to travel to and from field is required (Perth Amboy to Somerset).
