Equity Derivative Marketing Support recruitment
EDG Marketing Support is the primary desk aligned support team for the Equity Derivative Group marketers in Hong Kong, a part of the Equities Middle Office within Asia Pacific. The group has responsibility for supporting the marketers and their clients from an operational perspective. The clients supported principally fall into two groups, aligned with the products that they deal in:
- Hedge Funds, who deal in products giving synthetic equity access to closed markets such as equity swaps and participation notes
- Exotic clients namely falling into the categories - Private Banking clients and Financial Intermediaries. These clients buy equity derivative products of both a vanilla and a complex nature and on-sell these products to private clients or retail.
Certain aspects of the team's current role will be re-engineered to enable team members to move away from some of the processing oriented tasks currently performed and focus more on the value added aspects of
- Client service
- Marketer assistance
- Correct representation of the transaction risk and deal capture
- Assisting the business so that they are in compliance of the control parameters set for them.
Responsibilities:
- Affirm economic details of trades done with clients.
- Understand products and set up product instruments in Reference Data Systems.
- Assist Marketers and Traders with booking of marketer initiated transactions.
- Ensure that client trades settle on time and handle any client related settlement exceptions.
- Respond to client on any trade queries, e.g. clarification on terms of trade.
- Monitor deal lifecycle events and ensure correct client liaison and bookings are done as appropriate.
- Ad-hoc client queries to deal with and to be solved working in conjunction with many ad-hoc queries from marketers, traders, settlements areas and trade support.
- Extensive contact with marketers, traders, and clients on a daily basis and should be able to understand the pressures of working on a trading floor of a complex business
Products Covered:
- Simple OTC options (Equity, Dividend and Variance Swaps, Part Notes, Vanilla option, single equity underlying, average spot )
- Simple OTC options (vanilla options, single barriers, call spreads, knock-out options, etc)
- Complex structured derivatives (Semi-Annual Review Notes, Target Redemption Notes, Synthetic Portfolio Insurance, etc)
Skills
• Strong proficiency with using PC software such as Microsoft Office and the ability to pick up systems architecture easily.
• Previous exposure to derivative products is a prerequisite ( equity derivatives not essential )
• Fluent English language skills (both verbal and written)
• 4-5 years experience in an investment banking environment, preferably middle office experience or similar in a derivatives client service role
• Ability to handle high level multiple tasking is essential - ensuring that the risk of each transaction is correctly recorded, maintain a high level of client service, whilst at all times being aware of controls and policies to ensure adherence to them by the team and the business
