Equity Derivatives Analyst recruitment
This is an opportunity for a talented individual to join the Equity Derivatives SPG function in London.
The Equity Derivatives SPG acts as the primary point of contact on all matters related to trade capture, risk and PL within the risk management system, Geronimo. The role involves managing relationships with Trading, Sales and extensive interaction with other functional areas such as Product Control, Risk Control, Credit Risk, IT and downstream Operations teams.
The Equity Derivatives SPG offers a challenging work environment and requires someone who is responsive and possesses exceptional communication skills and attention to detail. They should have the ability to quickly develop business and technical expertise and establish relationships with key stakeholders.
The team supports a diverse product range, including vanilla and exotic derivatives (OTC/Securitised), cash securities, and swaps. The individual will be expected to be very adept at picking up new processes and procedures, achieved through on the job training, time spent in other areas and also educational courses with regard to improving their technical knowledge. Diligence, accuracy, teamwork and being able to cope in a high pressure environment are essential.
Day to day responsibilities will include:
• T0 PL production, reconciliation to Product Control T1 PL
• Monitoring and resolving trade exceptions from the various system flows
• Setting up of instruments, booking derivative trades and checking PL implications
• Notification and maintenance of expirations and trade events (including Corporate Actions)
• Solving complex problems and acting as an interface to the Business, I.T., Ops and BUC to ensure all client needs are met in an efficient manner.
• Working with the control team to resolve reconciliation breaks
• Management and escalation of risk issues
Candidates must be solution focused, results orientated and a strong communicator. Successful candidates will have the ability to synthesise complex information quickly and accurately to varying audiences. The ability to establish strong relationships across key internal clients will be essential.
In addition to the core activities of a true Middle Office function, the role will have a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and driving efficiency gains through involvement in tactical and strategic projects. Such projects will span the entire trade lifecycle and will include working with Trading, Sales, Technology and other Operations partners. There are also a number of NBI’s (New Business Initiatives) that the candidate will have an opportunity to be involved in.
You will ideally have -
Accounting qualification and Product Control experience preferred
Degree level education - ideally within a numerate discipline.
Derivative and Option theory knowledge essential.
Understanding of PL Explain (Greeks) essential.
