The Derivatives Project Group (DPG) is the operations-based project management and business analysis team responsible for driving and delivering change across the global Morgan Stanley derivatives business. DPG is a 70+ strong team across London, New York and Hong Kong, and is accountable to the Global Head of Derivatives Operations.

DPG consists of three global business-aligned teams supporting Equity Swaps, Equity Derivatives and Fixed Income Derivatives trade capture, and two cross asset-class functional teams supporting confirmation and settlement.

Role Summary:
Morgan Stanley is looking to hire within the Equity Derivatives Project (EDP) team. The EDP team is based in London, New York and Hong Kong. The goal of the EDP team is to deliver an industry leading Equity Derivative processing platform. A key part of this strategy is the Equity Derivatives Expansion (EDE) program which is driven by the Equity Business Unit to significantly grow the revenues for the Equity Derivative business line. This is a fully front-to-back program to strategically develop a future state architecture that will revolutionalise the processing of Equity Derivatives within the firm.

The main focus area for the program in 2011 and 2012 is to develop a strategic front-to-back processing platform for Exotic OTC Equity Derivatives and Equity Securitised Products. The initial focus will be the development and deployment of a new trade capture system to support Securitised Structured Products Issuance and Client trading. This comprises primary and secondary trade capture, integration with downstream processing systems and full front-to-back lifecycle event processing.

The role is to lead the Securitised Products program, managing a team of Business Analysts. This role has a global focus and will entail partnering with Trading, Sales, Operations, Financial Control and IT across Europe, the Americas and Asia. Primary responsibilities will include:

• Work with senior stakeholders across all business functions to define a new front-to-back business processing model. This will need to address regional variations while retaining a consistent global approach and should drive the business requirements for the system implementation
• Work with technology partners to define the functional and technical design to support the business processing requirements
• Oversee user testing and deployment requirements for IT development turnovers
• Manage and develop DPG team members both directly and indirectly reporting into this role
• Collaborate with DPG Management to ensure common standards, best practice, leadership and vision are implemented within the European region and globally

The role will be located in London and will report into the OTC Exotics and Securitised Products Program Manager.

The core skills/experience are:
• Product knowledge - good understanding of derivative products, preferably equity derivatives and it is desirable that this includes a strong understanding of structured products processing.
• Project Management - formal change management experience with exposure to the full project lifecycle. The candidate should have a proven delivery record and practical experience of gathering requirements, resource planning, test planning, deployment management and milestone tracking.
• Communication – the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences from Analysts to Managing Directors and tailoring messages as appropriate
• Good quantitative analytical skills – the ability to critically evaluate information gathered across multiple sources, reconcile variances and recommend proposals to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Knowledge of the full front-to-back trade lifecycle including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, valuation, regulatory reporting, risk management.
