Equity Research Analyst Strategy Consultant

 

The candidate will play an integral role in executing consultancy engagements commissioned by the organisation’s clients. This will be achieved through effective and efficient collection of data, insightful analytical skills and persuasive presentations to the clients.

The position offers a rare opportunity to be mentored by seasoned professionals, to become an expert in strategic issues and to be exposed to senior-level client decision-making.

Responsibilities

As Equity Research Analyst within the Advisory unit, you will focus primarily on, but not be limited to, the following:

- Project Management: executing assigned programmes effectively by ensuring high levels of client satisfaction through the delivery of insightful recommendations, effective management of the internal process coupled with intensive client management and cost control

- Evidence Gathering: conducting high-quality primary research (e.g., interviews with key external experts either via telephone, conference attendance or insight groups) and secondary research (e.g., key information from databases, reports, public domain websites)

- Analysis and Reporting: working with other members of the project team to analyse findings, develop conclusions and recommendations and create client presentations that deliver a linear evidence-based story in order to make meaningful and actionable recommendations

- Business Development: playing a significant role in development of additional offerings, including contributing to proposal writing, management of existing accounts and development of new business

- Business Improvement: having an eye for continuous improvement in order to increase the efficiency of the projects and processes

The candidate will spend 80% of his or her time in the local office but may be required to undertake interoffice travel and client visits, and attend conferences.

Key Requirements

- Skills: The candidate will be a high-energy, results-oriented individual with a creative and analytical mind who can operate effectively as part of a global team. The successful candidate will have following attributes:

o A structured yet imaginative approach to problem-solving

o Robust analytical (including numerical) skills

o Proficient with various strategy frameworks

o Understanding of accounting, economics and corporate finance

o Excellent valuation and modelling skills

o Adept at report writing and constructing marketing materials/memoranda

o Superior communication, presentation and project management skills

- Experience:

o 3+ years of relevant experience

o Candidates can be from equity research, venture capital firms, management consultancies, investment banks, pharma/biotech corporates, etc.

- Education:

o Life sciences degree and/or business degree (MS, PhD, MD, MBA, CFA, etc.)

- Work permit

o Entitlement to work freely in the UK
