Position Description:
Morgan Stanley Co. LLC seeks Equity Research Associate, Multi-Industry in New York, NY to conduct fundamental research of the U.S. Multi Industry and Electrical Equipment sector by surveying and interviewing industry executives, customers, and distributors. Prepare sector and company reports to communicate investment ideas to institutional clients and sales and update them on industry development. Create and update company financial models based on bottom-up, fundamental analysis. Maintain and manage economic, company, macro and industry databases. Collect, analyze, and synthesize economic, industry and company data, and articulate trends and findings with regards to stock valuation and investment ideas through written analysis. Analyze financial statements and industry data, completing ad-hoc projects as required. Utilize Excel and other data analysis tools to conduct statistical analysis. Automate repetitive tasks using Excel VBA. Monitor and evaluate macro and industry news, and determine read-throughs to companies in coverage universes to alert the team to ongoing developments. Evaluate equities using different valuation methodologies, such as discounted cash flow and dividend discount models. Respond to internal and external inquiries. Utilize Microsoft Suite, Thomson Financials, and Bloomberg terminals.
Skills Required:
Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting or related field or equivalent, and three (3) years of experience performing equity research for the U.S. industrial sector on behalf of a global financial services institution. Prior experience must include performing investment analysis; creating and maintaining company financial models based on bottom-up, fundamental analysis; preparing sector and company reports; collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing industry and company data; articulating trends and findings with regard to stock valuation and investment ideas through written analysis; performing database management; evaluating equities using different valuation methodologies, including discounted cash flow and dividend discount models; automating repetitive tasks using Excel VBA; conducting statistical analysis using Excel and other data analysis tools; and utilizing Microsoft Suite, Excel VBA, Bloomberg terminals, and Thomson Financials.
