Equity Structured Notes Controller – AVP recruitment
Morgan Stanley is a global leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity and equity-linked securities. The European Derivatives business is at the heart of the Morgan Stanley Equities franchise. We are looking for a candidate to strengthen the operation of the controls within the European Equity Derivatives product control group.
Key areas of responsibility are:-
- Ensuring that control processes are executed in an effective and timely manner.
- Identifying, communicating and actively working with the appropriate individuals to remediate ineffective controls.
- Supporting and controlling daily, weekly and month end analyses, providing reviewed data to the head of Exotic Equity Derivatives Product Control.
- Working with global teams on implementing key strategic initiatives in the development of the product control function.
- Developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with the trading desks and other support teams throughout the organisation such as operations, valuations, accounting policy etc.
- Building knowledge of technical Accounting and disclosure processes.
- Growing and developing a team of product controllers to work effectively with the wider global exotic derivative product control team.
The Equity Derivatives team covers both the vanilla and exotic derivative trading desks. These desks are located and managed in the European region which, from a Product Control standpoint, are supported by teams lead by two VPs.
Skills Required:
We are looking for a proven AVP/Senior Manager level product controller, from an accounting and/or mathematical background (or equivalent), with relevant experience.
Requirements include:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA or equivalent) with a numerate degree.
- Relevant product control experience.
- Strong controls awareness and an understanding of exotic equity derivative products, along with structures involving multiple entities.
- Track record of process renovation and improvement of overall control environment.
- Experience of working effectively with other team members both in the region and globally.
- Experience of operating effectively with change teams and infrastructure.
- Must be confident and have well developed communication skills.
- Committed and self motivated individual.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Some management experience would be preferable.
