Estimating Director

A Major Contractor within the building, construction and Civil Engineering Industry is seeking an Estimating Director to head up the Estimating Function within the Building Sector. Reporting into the Business MD, your be responsible To lead the estimating and cost planning function to deliver high quality on best value and best price for all bids up to contract award, Form highly motivated and well integrated team providing accuracy and innovation in the costing and bid process, Part of the Pre-construction senor management team developing and deploying strategy The key link between Operating Units and Pre-construction.

The ideal person must be: Degree qualified preferable, Fom an estimating background of at least 15 years experience, Good grounding of measuring and pricing from basic principles, Track record of winning work in a competitive environment, Knowledge of commercial conditions (including NEC) and design process, Relevant CSCS Card, Estimating experience to required level Computerised estimating systems and IT skills as appropriate

Principal Duties Responsibilities:

·Accountable for the tender process through to contract award, ensuring best practice is employed for price accuracy and competitiveness.

·Accountable for gouvernance in ongoing frameworks/ECI contracts where contract awards are ongoing.

·Effectively lead, build and maintain a highly competent, high energy team with strong, succession planning, development, training and performance management.

·Provide visible workload capacity planning across OU’s to ensure right size team with a mix of full time internal staff and a network of external resources, plan on rolling 12 month basis.

·Own and manage the STAP risk management process.

·Own and manage the internal sign off process, maintain and apply the authority matrix.

·Adjudication of all bids prior to submission

·Drive innovation and the use of available computer technology and new ways of working.

·Maintain and provide Skanska view of inflation and escalation of raw material prices etc.

·Provide design to cost service for design and build projects up to contract signature

·Accountable for Pre-construction IMS

·Regularly gather feed back on price performance from current projects and procurement enabling function.

·Provide support to ongoing projects when requested

·Influence client on procurement strategies
