Estimator

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Estimator is a critical position within SP.  Estimators are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. Estimators must aggressively follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received.  Estimators also work with the Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business. The Estimator scrutinizes incoming inquiries, asses all technical issues, prepares estimates of the costs of the works, submits proposals to clients and negotiates terms and conditions with the clients to contract award. The Estimator must be a team player and have experience in construction.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages one or more Jr Estimators

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

 

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:

 

Required:

Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience required

3-5+ years construction project estimating experience

 

Preferred:

 

 REPRESENTATIVE Machines, Tools, Equipment and/OR Software USED:

The following machines, tools, equipment and/or software are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position.  Actual machines, tools, equipment and/or software used will vary.

·          Office equipment including, but not limited to, computer, phone, fax machine, copier and calculator.

·          MS Office including Word and Excel.

·          Company information systems.                

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
