Duties:
1. Prepares estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
2. Reads, understands and offers improvements to the contract documents (plans, specifications addenda). Offers Value-Engineering and Life-Cycle cost options for review.
3. Performs quantity take-offs, organizes, prices and analyzes information.
4. Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers. Creates listings of appropriate contacts for specific projects.
5. Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information. Determines the suitability and competitive stance of subs and suppliers.
6. Prepares and analyzes estimate formats in such areas as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
7. Is responsible for the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
8. Attends Owner meetings during estimate development.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction related field or equivalent and over five years experience in estimating commercial construction projects, demonstrating competence in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
2. Excellent working knowledge of Timberline, On-Screen Takeoff, Excel, and Word software.
3. Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and coordinate team members.
Preferred: Ability to provide pre-construction skills and ability to interact with owners
