Estimator / Project Manager - Electrical (Utility)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Electrical Contractor seeks person with 5+ yrs Estimating/Utility Industry experience

Must have at least 5 years of estimating experience within electrical construction of transmission and/or substations.

Must have experience as a Project Manager within the Electrical Construction or Utilities industry.  Working with 230KV and up.  Position will start out as contract and may transition to permanent status.  

Responsibilities:
--Prepare complete cost estimates for electric transmission and substation projects. 
--Understand and monitor program of work to ensure estimates are completed prior to deadlines 
--Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor and construction personnel to understand and determine constructabilty requirements. 
--Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation. 
--Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistently 
--Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stake holders 
--Assist construction personnel throughout the project life-cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimate 
--Assist in the preparation and submission of change orders 
--Follow up at the end of a project to close any loops in the estimating process

** Project Management duties include:

-Preparation of project construction schedules
-Submission of Request for Information to clients
-Acting as main point of contact for projects
-Coordinating meetings, scheduling updates, submitting deliverables and addressing outstanding 'open items' as requested by clients
-Preparation of look-ahead documents and weekly/monthly progress reports
-Reviewing and monitoring job costs versus budgets
-Reporting to management team
-Keeping emphasis on the client, develop an understanding of the client's culture, key people and processes

 Qualifications
--Candidate must possess experience in understanding blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services. 
--5 years or more of experience in the Utility Industry and/or possessing estimating knowledge of electric transmission and substation projects is required.
-- 5 years or more of experience in the Utility Industry and/or possessing Project Management within the electric transmission and substation projects is preferred 
--Ability to prepare construction schedules in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera
-Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field is preferred
--Valid drivers license and ability to travel as required. 
--Must have excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written and communication skills. 
--Must be a team player and be able to work with various partners from start to finish.
