Europe Regional Digital Communications Officer Job in Madrid, Madrid Spain

Background

The British Embassy in Madrid is looking for an experienced, creative and dynamic Regional Digital Communications Officer to join the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s global digital diplomacy team in April 2012.

The digital diplomacy team is the centre of digital excellence in the Foreign Commonwealth Office. Our Europe team supports FCO offices in the region to deliver foreign policy using their own digital channels and social media channels.

The Europe Regional Digital Communications Officer will provide day-to-day support and advice for around 50+ web editors across Europe. They will prepare and deliver some training on the Content Management System, though much of this is done by a trainer in London, and also train on the use of digital across the network. They will also work with the teams in London to publish content for the FCO main site (www.fco.gov.uk) and our overseas websites.

The role reports to the Europe Regional Digital Manager based in Madrid.

Duties and responsibilities

 Provide technical support and advice to web editors across Europe
 Monitor and analyse traffic on sites and social web profiles
 Develop and deliver training courses for web editors
 Develop training support materials for the network
 Publish content for the FCO main site
 Perform other duties as assigned within scope of role

Minimum qualifications/experience

 Experience of working in relevant digital media field including editorial experience
 Good knowledge of using content management systems, social media tools and associated software (MS Office suite, Adobe editing suite, Google Analytics etc.)
 Basic HTML programming and IT skills would be an advantage
 Good project management abilities useful
 Must have advanced proof-reading and editing skills as well as first-class oral and written communication skills
 Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team with exceptional customer service skills is a must
 Fluent in English

Employment Terms: 

Permanent contract following a six-month probation.  The successful candidate will be subject to a background and security check before confirmation of appointment. 

Working hours: 

37.5 hours per week.

Salary: 

31.711 Euros gross p.a. in twelve monthly payments.

Social Security: 

The successful candidates will be enrolled in the Spanish State Social Security Scheme.

Income Tax: 

The Embassy is a Diplomatic Mission with exempt status and does not collect taxes for other States. Employees are totally responsible for payment of income tax at the legally required rate.
