Background

The British Embassy in Madrid is looking for an experienced, creative and dynamic Regional Digital Manager to join the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s global digital diplomacy team in April 2012.

The digital diplomacy team is the centre of digital excellence in the Foreign Commonwealth Office. Our Europe team supports FCO offices in the region to deliver foreign policy using their own digital channels and the social web.

The Europe Digital Manager will work with the Global and other Regional Managers (in Singapore Washington and Delhi) to coordinate and optimise the support, training and consultancy provided across our digital network. There are standards to maintain but the emphasis is on innovation to prepare the network for our future priorities.

The role reports to the Global Hub Manager based in London.

Duties and responsibilities

 Oversee standards and management of 50+ corporate websites and related social media  presences
 Provide technical support and strategic advice toweb editors across Europe
 Manage key stakeholder relationships across the network
 Monitor and analyse traffic on sites and social web profiles
 Provide expertise on regional and local digital communications trends
 Develop and deliver training courses for web editors
 Manage two Communication Officers
 Manage a budget
 Perform other duties as assigned within scope of role

Minimum qualifications/experience

 At least three years experience of working in relevant digital media field including editorial experience
 Bachelor’s Degree desirable
 Good knowledge of using content management systems, social media tools and associated software (MS Office suite, Adobe editing suite, Google Analytics etc.)
 Basic HTML programming and IT skills preferred
 Good project management abilities essential, as well as the ability to manage the workflow of others
 Must have advanced proof-reading and editing skills as well as first-class oral and written communication skills
 Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team with exceptional customer service skills is a must
 Experience of working in international markets preferred
 Fluent in English

Employment Terms: 

Permanent contract following a six-month probation.  The successful candidate will be subject to a background and security check before confirmation of appointment. 

Working hours: 

37.5 hours per week.

Salary: 

40.510 Euros gross p.a. in twelve monthly payments.

Social Security: 

The successful candidates will be enrolled in the Spanish State Social Security Scheme.

Income Tax: 

The Embassy is a Diplomatic Mission with exempt status and does not collect taxes for other States. Employees are totally responsible for payment of income tax at the legally required rate.
