European Economist recruitment

The key focus of the job holder is to deliver high quality analysis, deepen existing client relationships and develop new ones, and provide high frequency and more thematic commentary and discussion of the euro area, with a particular focus on the periphery economies. We place particular emphasis on working closely with the European Rates Strategy team. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Monitoring key developments within the euro area economies with a particular focus on the periphery economies. Interpreting these data and developments and provide commentary and analysis in written research pieces

• Develop analytical tools and routines, including forecasting, to understand, differentiate and predict economic developments

• Advise investors on economic developments through written publications, calls, meetings and presentations.

• Work with the Gilts and Euro Rates Strategists to help identify investment opportunities

• Brief colleagues in sales and trading regularly on key themes and developments

• Remain up to date and relevant on all compliance issues

• Regular contribution to our morning meetings and the European Economics and Rates Daily

• Maintain a close relationship with other asset class research

• Build brand awareness through media exposure

EDUCATION /OR EXPERIENCERequired

• University degree

• Experience working as an economist

• Strong drafting and presentation skills

Preferred

• Language Skills – Italian, Spanish, French

Master’s degree in economics or finance
