Macquarie's Corporate Asset Finance Team
Macquarie's Corporate and Asset Finance ('CAF') team is looking to recruit a London-based Vice President/Senior Manager to take responsibility for business development and transaction execution.
CAF is the leasing and lending division of the Macquarie Group with approx. £13bil of funded assets throughout its global operations. CAF provides asset and corporate finance, leasing, trading, sourcing and remarketing services for a range of assets and industries including energy assets, jet aircraft, mining equipment, IT equipment, manufacturing, telecommunications equipment, motor vehicles and railcars.
In the UK, the CAF Energy Assets team owns and leases almost 6 million traditional gas and electricity meters and is a leading owner/lessor of smart meters. With the large scale roll-out of smart meters in the UK imminent, we are seeking to grow this portfolio in addition to expanding in to adjacent asset classes and new geographies.
The role will be focussed on execution of new transactions, origination of new opportunities and supporting our existing operations by undertaking various special projects (such as negotiating contract extensions or exploring funding/financing options for the business). The successful candidate will report directly to our energy assets business leaders.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful team and be involved in many aspects of managing and growing a proven, profitable and successful business. The role will encompass both business development and principal investment transactions and will also include:
- taking responsibility for all aspects of business development projects including leading Macquarie's response to large scale tender and procurement processes;
- developing and executing new opportunities and transactions across our existing business including negotiating transaction documentation and managing the client relationship;
- originating and executing new opportunities for the team in adjacent asset classes or geographies;
- preparing presentations and internal papers for new transactions and, on occasion, new portfolio/business acquisitions;
- assisting with ongoing business and asset management projects including valuations, internal and external stakeholder management, and reviewing financial forecasts and budgets; and
- analysing potential transactions, including participation in due diligence and managing third party service providers.
The ideal candidate will:
- have several years experience in either management consulting, private equity or corporate advisory environment, or experience in a business development or corporate finance role within the utility industry;
- be highly commercial with a proven track record of originating and executing profitable transactions and business opportunities;
- have tertiary qualifications preferably with some application to commerce, finance, accounting or economics;
- possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- have strong project management skills with the ability to multi-task;
- be self motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
- UK energy sector experience would be preferable but is not essential;
- be fluent in an additional European language, although this is not a prerequisite.
