European Financials Credit Analyst – 100$+ Billion Dollar Asset Manager

A large well known global asset manager is looking to build up their fixed income team in London. They have a team of 24 people covering a wide range of sectors and assets. The head of the team is looking for a financials analyst to cover their European portfolio of names in the banking, insurance and finance company sectors. The role involves providing rating and credit report updates and acting as the main driver of the house view on the names you will cover.

Responsibilities

• Write thematic reports on different Financials, analysing industry trends that affect company profits and share prices.
• Deep-dive into the industry dynamics of specific niches to assist the senior analysts in writing company-specific reports.
• Undertake screening work using Bloomberg, Data stream and other sources to identify the most promising candidate investments.
• Analyse company financial results and contribute to research reports and updates on companies under coverage.
• Visit companies, attend conferences and meet with company management. Occasional travel may be required.
• Gather and update accurate data on companies in the portfolio each month.
• Maintain company, industry and portfolio spreadsheets and undertake ad hoc modelling exercises.
• Conducting analytical meetings with issuers and regulators, contributing to meeting preparations and follow-ups
o Providing in-depth analytical research for banks including fundamental analysis, stress testing, modelling of expected loss-recovery analysis and capital structure-liquidity assessments
o Preparing detailed presentations for rating committees and drafting internal credit documents
o Writing credit opinions, press releases, earnings commentaries, company profiles, banking system outlooks and special comments

The successful candidate is likely to have
 Proven fluency with numbers (maths A Level or equivalent)
 Ability to produce high-quality analytical work to tight deadlines
 High level of attention to detail
 Strong computer skills including Excel would be a distinct advantage
 A working knowledge of accounting and financial statements would be an advantage but is not essential
